Steps for performance-based acquisition
Performance-based acquisition (PBA) can be daunting, and guidelines on the subject can easily run for a long time. That can make learning the PBA seem more complicated than it really is. A successful acquisition answers four questions: what do I need, when do I need it, who needs it and how can I know if it is good when I receive it?
This guidance we can provide, geared toward the largest acquisition community (especially the program offices), breaks down the acquisition of performance-based services into seven steps. Within the steps you will find information, references, examples, best practices. The steps cover every aspect of a performance-based acquisition and it is recommended to follow them in order. However, you may want to jump directly to the step you are working on or what is most important to the job you are doing.
